What is the history of Calvary Christian School?

Calvary Christian School in Naperville has been partnering with families for over 40 years to provide care and early education for young children and to equip school-age children with a Christian worldview education. The school strives to inspire each child with a commitment to excellence and a desire to impact the world.

 

Are you affiliated with a church?

Yes, Calvary Christian School is a ministry of Calvary Church.

 

What faith do you teach?

Calvary Christian School is associated with the Assemblies of God fellowship, and we provide our students with a Christian education. Our students are representative of 41 different Christian churches in our area. The Bible is our standard of living. Our mission is to help students know God, achieve academic excellence, discover their purpose, and make a difference.

 

What curriculum do you teach?

Calvary Christian School strongly emphasizes providing high-quality Christian education to its K-8th grade students through the use of a Christian curriculum, including Abeka, BJU Press, and Purposeful Design. Our curriculum is carefully selected to meet and exceed state standards while providing academic rigor, fostering critical thinking skills, and developing a Biblical Worldview.

 

What are your school hours?

Preschool: 7 a.m. - 6 p.m.

Junior Kindergarten & Kindergarten: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday: 8:30 a.m. - 2:55 p.m., Wednesday: 8:30 a.m. - 2:15 p.m.

Grades 1-8: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday: 8:30 a.m. - 3:15 p.m., Wednesday: 8:30 a.m. - 2:15 p.m.

Students may arrive at 8 a.m. The bell rings at 8:30 a.m.

Is extended care provided?

After School Care is available until 6 p.m. each school day for students up to 8th grade.

 

Is the school accredited?

As a Christian school in Naperville, CSS is a member of ACSI (Association of Christian Schools International) and the Illinois Coalition of Nonpublic Schools.

 

Are your teachers certified?

All teachers must have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree and be certified to teach or receive an ACTS teaching certificate. More than half of our core subject teachers hold Master’s Degrees.

 

Are you able to accommodate students with learning needs?

We employ a counselor, a learning resource teacher, and a reading interventionist to assist students with learning needs. We partner with the local school district to evaluate and coordinate Individual Service Plans for students who qualify.

 

What school safety protocols are in place?

The safety and security of our students remain a top priority. Comprehensive strategies are designed to help ensure the safety and security of students, staff, and visitors within a school environment. Key components include a School Resource Officer, Campus Safety Coordinator, Visitor Management Screening System, Security Camera System, Locked Facility, Local Police Officer Liaison, emergency trained staff, and an updated emergency panic alarm system.

 

What is your policy for bullying?

Calvary Christian School believes all students are entitled to a safe and harassment-free school experience. Bullying means systematically and regularly inflicting physical hurt or psychological distress on one or more students. Administration and staff will determine whether an action or incident constitutes bullying based on facts and circumstances. Bullying is not tolerated, and discipline policies will follow.

 

What is your average class size?

Our kindergarten classes are capped at 16. Our average class size in grades 1– 8 is 18.

 

How do you incorporate technology into the classroom?

Each student is issued a Chromebook. Technology is integrated into the classroom to complement learning. Programs such as Moby Max, Accelerated Reader, and Star Reading and Math are utilized to monitor progress and ensure student growth. Students also participate in enrichment and elective classes to develop skills in coding, google suite, graphic design, digital art, 3D printing, and typing.

 

Do you have hot lunch?

Lunch is available daily from our cafeteria and parents can order through FACTS.

 

Do you wear uniforms?

We have a specific dress code for Kindergarten through 8th grade.

CCS believes that appropriate attire is fundamental to developing wholesome attitudes and behavior. Uniform requirements may be viewed here or found in our Parent Handbook.

Students in grades 5-8 are required to purchase a gray t-shirt and red shorts for gym. These may be purchased at any store and should have a logo no bigger than a quarter. CCS gray spirit wear shirts are also acceptable.

There is no required uniform for high school students at CCS. Business casual and modest dress is expected. Jeans are permitted (except on Wednesdays for chapel). CCS Spirit Wear is encouraged for Fridays!

What sports or extracurricular activities are available for students to participate in?

As a Christian school in Naperville, we want our students to have opportunities to participate in a variety of activities. Students in grades 5-8 can participate in cross country, soccer, basketball, cheerleading, and volleyball. Coding Camps, Art Camps, Yearbook, Chess Club, and Intramural sports for grades 1– 4.

 

How can I learn more about scholarships or financial aid?

Financial Aid is awarded based on financial need and availability on a first-come, first-serve basis. To apply for Financial Aid, please go to FACTS Financial Aid and complete an application after finishing a school application.
